Abstract

Industri keramik nasional memiliki prospek yang cerah seiring dengan pertumbuhan pasar domestik yang terus meningkat melalui banyaknya proyek infrastruktur pemerintah. Peluang pengembangan industri keramik tanah air salah satunya didukung oleh proyek pemerintah yang potensial, yakni pembangunan Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN) yang sedang berlangsung sejak tahun 2023, dimana proyek-proyek pada sektor properti akan berkontribusi sekitar 25% dari total penjualan keramik nasional. Pertumbuhan produksi industri keramik dalam negeri berkisar 5% per tahun, sehingga industri keramik mempunyai potensi untuk dikembangkan. Terjadinya peningkatan kuantitas produksi keramik maka akan selaras dengan limbah sisa produksi yang akan dihasilkan. Berdasarkan hasil riset pada studi kasus PT. Keramik Paolo, di Kota Probolinggo, limbah padat berupa produk jadi yang tidak memenuhi standar kelayakan, dihasilkan sekitar 30kg perharinya. Sebagian besar limbah padat keramik ini dibuang tanpa didaur ulang karena terdapat lapisan kaca (glasir) yang keras setelah mengalami proses pembakaran suhu tinggi, dan termasuk limbah yang sulit terurai dilingkungan. Penelitian sebelumya menunjukkan bahwa keramik memiliki kandungan kimia pada bahan bakunya, seperti SiO2 (silika) dan alumina (Al₂O₃) yang juga terdapat pada bahan konstruksi seperti kerikil dan pasir, yang jika digabung dengan semen dan air akan membentuk padatan dan memperkuat ikatan pada campuran tersebut. Selain itu keramik juga memiliki keunggulan sifat fisik seperti tahan api, anti korosi, kuat namun ringan sehingga material ini memiliki kekuatan yang baik dan berpotensi dimanfaatkan menjadi produk fungsional salah satunya produk furnitur. Pengolahan daur ulang limbah keramik telah dilakukan oleh peneliti sebelumnya, sebagai agregat alternatif beton dengan metode daur ulang (recycling) yang cukup kompleks dan penggunaan untuk bangunan kontruksi tingkat tinggi. Coffee Shop merupakan salah satu bisnis yang sedang berkembang di Indonesia, dengan gaya interior dan eksterior yang menarik. Dari permasalahan dan fenomena tersebut, penulis melakukan perancangan mengenai eksplorasi material limbah padat keramik menjadi produk furnitur dengan metode upcyling, menggunakan material terazo. Material keramik yang memiliki kekuatan serta keindahan tampilannya berpotensi besar dikembangkan menjadi produk furnitur coffee shop. Perancangan ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan value dari limbah keramik dan mencegah terjadinya penumpukan limbah yang beresiko pada pencemaran lingkungan. The national ceramic industry has bright prospects as the domestic market continues to grow through many government infrastructure projects. One of the opportunities for developing the country's ceramic industry is supported by potential government projects, namely the development of the Indonesian Capital City (IKN), which has been ongoing since 2023, where projects in the property sector will contribute around 25% of total national ceramic sales. Production growth in the domestic ceramic industry is around 5% per year, so the ceramic industry has the potential to be developed. An increase in the quantity of ceramic production will be in line with the remaining production waste that will be produced. Based on the results of research on the case study of PT. Paolo Ceramics, in Probolinggo City, produces around 30kg of solid waste in the form of finished products that do not meet suitability standards per day. Most of this ceramic solid waste is thrown away without being recycled because it contains a hard layer of glass (glaze) after undergoing a high temperature firing process, and is waste that is difficult to decompose in the environment. Previous research shows that ceramics contain chemicals in their raw materials, such as SiO2 (silica) and alumina (Al₂O₃) which are also found in construction materials such as gravel and sand, which when combined with cement and water will form a solid and strengthen the bond in the mixture. Apart from that, ceramics also have superior physical properties such as fire resistance, anti-corrosion, strong but light so that this material has good strength and has the potential to be used as a functional product, one of which is furniture products. Processing of recycled ceramic waste has been carried out by previous researchers, as an alternative concrete aggregate with a fairly complex recycling method and is used for high-rise construction. Coffee Shop is one of the growing businesses in Indonesia, with an attractive interior and exterior style. From these problems and phenomena, the author carried out a design regarding the exploration of ceramic solid waste materials into furniture products using the upcyling method, using terrazo material. Ceramic material which has strength and beautiful appearance has great potential to be developed into coffee shop furniture products. This design is expected to increase the value of ceramic waste and prevent the accumulation of waste which poses a risk of environmental pollution.
