Abstract

This research focuses on the geographical challenges and the effectiveness of electric trail motorcycles as pioneering vehicles in SAR Planner operations for planning before conducting rescues. Indonesia, located in the "Ring of Fire" zone with high geological activity such as volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, and tsunamis, faces difficult-to-reach terrain. The main challenges include extreme terrain and the need to accelerate BASARNAS response times. The aim of this research is to design an electric trail motorcycle that can operate in extreme terrain and has sufficient battery endurance for long-distance disaster route surveying. This electric trail motorcycle is expected to expedite BASARNAS response times and integrate technologies such as GPS and drones for real-time monitoring. The design must surpass existing electric trail motorcycles and combustion-engine trail vehicles in performance and contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The research methodology involves collecting primary data from user interviews and field observations, as well as secondary data from relevant literature. The analysis results will serve as the basis for ideation and concept design of the electric trail motorcycle using the Design Thinking Process. Therefore, research on the frame, battery, additional features, and vehicle design is expected to enhance the effectiveness of disaster operations in Indonesia.
