Abstract

With the increasing need for electric usage, PLTU Pacitan as a power generation unit must ensure adequate coal stock as fuel for power plants. PLTU Pacitan plans to increase coal loading and unloading port capacity for bulk carriers and coal barges with the largest payload of 30,000 DWT to accelerate the provision of coal stocks. The evaluation results of the layout of the approach and port channel, the horizontal dimensions of the existing channel have met the needs of the largest ship plans, while the vertical dimensions of the existing channel require dredging to a depth of -12 mLWS in the turning basin and dock area, -14 mLWS in the entrance of the port channel, as well as -5 mLWS in the water intake area for the tugboat channel. The total volume dredged was 202,911.68 m3. The selected dredger tool is a Cutter Section and Grabber to dredge sands and clays also considering rocks around the breakwater. Sedimentation that occurs in the tugboat channel is 0.3 m/year and in the area around the loading and unloading dock is 0.15 m/year, so dredging needs to be carried out 5 years after dredging for the tugboat channel and 7 years after dredging for the planned ship channel.
