Abstract

Permasalahan: Perilaku mahasiswa selama pembelajaran seringkali melibatkan media multitasking.

ABSTRACT

Context: The development of technology and its use in the learning process can affect student learning behavior. The Education Process Mining (EPM) approach, enables the disclosure of patterns and relationships from log data collected from educational environments to facilitate a holistic understanding of the learning process.
Problem: Students' behavior during learning often involves media multitasking. Media multitasking can affect students' focus level, which can affect their academic performance. Recent studies have focused more on students' behavior in accessing LMS, but not many have observed the influence of students' media multitasking behavior in doing asynchronous assignments.
Objective: This study aims to identify students' media multitasking behaviors in asynchronous assignments, explore why students engage in these behaviors and the impact of these behaviors on students' academic performance, and provide recommendations for teaching strategies to trigger students to maintain focus. The goal is to gain insight into the learning process and improve understanding of student behavior in the learning process.
Method: Active Window Tracking based Process Mining is used as a reference to reveal patterns of multitasking media behavior carried out by students in doing assignments. This research uses a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods to find student behavior in doing assignments and the causes of students doing this behavior.
Output: This research will help understand the characteristics and behavior of students in doing asynchronous assignments, identify the potential causes of students doing this behavior, and provide practical recommendations in teaching strategies to trigger student focus and attentional retention. This aims to improve focus and effectiveness in understanding learning materials.
