Abstract

The city of Jakarta, as the center of government and the Indonesian economy, contributed 17.34% to national GDP in 2018. In addition, Jakarta attracts foreign tourists, with an increase in the number of visits reaching 935,182 people in 2022. However, tourism competition with neighboring countries such as Vietnam getting tighter. The Novotel Jakarta Gajah Mada Hotel, which is strategically located in West Jakarta close to tourist destinations such as Glodok Chinatown, Monas, and Candra Naya, is more frequently used by business guests due to Candra Naya's fading appeal.
This research aims to redesign the Novotel Jakarta Gajah Mada Hotel to increase tourist interest and revive local tourism, especially Candra Naya. The methods used include literature study, field observation, interviews, and data analysis. Through observations, literature studies and interviews, it was found that the most optimal interior design development is the cultural exhibit concept which emphasizes the application of exhibition appearances with the theme of Indonesian Chinese acculturation in the form of interior aesthetic elements to create an atmosphere rich in cultural values, so that hotel users can obtain cultural narratives that exist in every corner of the room.
The results are expected to improve guest experience and promote Candra Naya tourism. With appropriate redesign, the Novotel Jakarta Gajah Mada Hotel is expected to become an attractive destination for local and foreign tourists and support the preservation and promotion of Jakarta's cultural heritage.
