Abstract
Tuntutan industri manufaktur untuk pemesinan benda kerja yang kompleks dengan tetap menjaga kualitas produk yang tinggi yang ditentukan dari kekasaran permukaan sangat penting terutama dalam industri mold and dies. Mesin Computer Numerical Control (CNC), dibantu oleh perangkat lunak Computer-Aided Design dan Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CADCAM) diciptakan sebagai solusi untuk memenuhi tuntutan ini. Selama proses slot milling, pemilihan strategi masuk pahat yang tepat sangat penting untuk mencapai hasil pemesinan yang baik. Kontur ramp merupakan suatu teknik di mana pahat secara bertahap memasuki benda kerja sepanjang jalur kontur tertentu. Dalam kontur ramp, sudut masuk dapat ditentukan dan berkontribusi signifikan terhadap pengurangan gaya potong, sehingga memengaruhi umur pahat. Selain itu, perubahan kedalaman pemotongan selama pemotongan ramp yang dapat mempengaruhi kekasaran permukaan. Feed rate, yang merupakan kecepatan gerak pahat juga berperan penting dalam menentukan kualitas permukaan dan umur pahat. Dalam penelitian ini, dilakukan studi eksperimental untuk menyelidiki pengaruh sudut ramp dan feed rate terhadap keausan pahat dan kekasaran permukaan benda kerja. Sudut ramp yang diuji yaitu 5°, 9°, dan 13°, serta feed rate yang diuji adalah 129, 143, dan 157 mm/min, menggunakan pahat HSS diameter 10 mm pada AA6061. Keausan pahat yang diukur yaitu pada bagian sisi tegak dan sisi muka pahat serta kekasaran permukaan yang diukur yaitu kekasaran permukaan vertikal dan horizontal. Analisis dilakukan menggunakan metode ANOVA dua arah dan regresi linear berganda untuk memahami pengaruh dan interaksi antara variabel-variabel tersebut terhadap keausan pahat dan kekasaran permukaan. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa ramp angle berpengaruh signifikan secara statistik terhadap semua variabel dependen kecuali kekasaran permukaan horizontal. Sedangkan, feed rate berpengaruh signifikan secara statistik terhadap keausan tegak pahat dan kekasaran permukaan vertikal dengan nilai rata-rata masing-masing sebesar 0,05579 mm dan 3,611 µm pada kombinasi 13° dan 157 mm/min. Sementara itu, tidak terdapat interaksi antara ramp angle dan feed rate yang signifikan secara statistik.

The demands of the manufacturing industry for machining complex workpieces while maintaining high product quality, as determined by surface roughness, are crucial, especially in the mold and die industry. Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines, assisted by Computer-Aided Design and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CADCAM) software, were created as a solution to meet these demands. During the slot milling process, selecting the appropriate tool entry strategy is vital for achieving good machining results. Ramp contouring is a technique where the tool gradually enters the workpiece along a specific contour path. In ramp contouring, the entry angle can be determined and significantly contributes to the reduction of cutting forces, thereby affecting tool life. Additionally, changes in cutting depth during ramp cutting can affect surface roughness. Feed rate also plays an essential role in determining surface quality and tool life. In this study, an experimental investigation was conducted to examine the effects of ramp angle and feed rate on tool wear and workpiece’s surface roughness. The ramp angles tested were 5°, 9°, and 13°, and the feed rates tested were 129, 143, and 157 mm/min, using a 10 mm diameter HSS tool on AA6061. Tool wear measured included wear on the cutting edge and the end face, and surface roughness measured included vertical and horizontal surface roughness. Analysis was performed using two-way ANOVA and multiple linear regression to understand the effects and interactions between these variables on the dependent variables. The results showed that ramp angle had a statistically significant effect on all dependent variables except horizontal surface roughness. Feed rate had a statistically significant effect on cutting edge wear and vertical surface roughness, with average values of 0.05579 mm and 3.611 µm, respectively, at the combination of 13° and 157 mm/min. Meanwhile, there was no statistically significant interaction between ramp angle and feed rate.
