Abstract

In Madiun Regency, particularly in the villages of Dawuhan, Kuwu, Ngetrep, Segulung, and Tapelan, the increase in population and demand for clean water has highlighted the importance of exploring subsurface water sources, especially groundwater. This research utilizes the geoelectric resistivity method of Vertical Electrical Sounding (VES) with the Schlumberger configuration to identify the subsurface layer structure and groundwater aquifer distribution at the study sites. The VES data analysis is conducted using PyGIMLi, an open-source Python-based library that can be used for geophysical data inversion modeling. The performance and accuracy of PyGIMLi were first tested using synthetic data of K, Q, H, and A types with three layers. The inversion process employed the Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm with 50 different initial models, each with parameters randomly selected within defined constraints. The test results showed that the algorithms in the PyGIMLi functions and modules worked very well and were able to reconstruct model parameters with high accuracy. The implementation of PyGIMLi in the analysis of field VES data also showed high alignment and consistency based on comparisons with the Res1Dinv and IPI2win software. Thus, PyGIMLi is worth considering as an effective alternative tool for VES inversion modeling. PyGIMLi data interpretation also successfully identified the presence and characteristics of aquifers in several villages in Madiun Regency, with moderate to high productivity at depths ranging from 5 to 97 meters in Dawuhan, Ngetrep, Segulung, and Tapelan.
