Abstract
mempengaruhi alur pelayaran kapal. Terganggunya aktivitas pelayaran akibat sedimentasi akan
meningkatkan biaya operasi pelabuhan dan mengurangi profit margin. Kajian morfologi muara
Kondisi perbani kecepatan maksimum 0,8 m/s.

The Donan River estuary is one of the key maritime routes for ship traffic on the southern
coast of Java Island. The presence of docks and harbors at this estuary makes it susceptible to
erosion and sedimentation, which can affect navigation channels. Disruptions in shipping
activities due to sedimentation can lead to increased port operation costs and reduced profit
margins. The morphological study of the Donan River estuary was conducted by analyzing
current patterns and sediment distribution using the Delft3D hydrodynamic model. Input data
included wave data, tidal data, river discharge, bathymetry, and sediment analysis data from
the study area. Validation was performed on tidal and current data for this modeling. The
validated model results were then analyzed to understand the current patterns formed by tidal
currents under different conditions (spring tide and neap tide) and the sediment distribution in
the study area's waters.
The study results indicate that maximum current speeds during spring ebb tides exceed 1
m/s, with an increase in current speed from the spring tide. The current direction during the
spring ebb tide is eastward, parallel to the Teluk Penyu beach, and southward, away from the
Teluk Penyu beach. During neap tides, the maximum speed reaches 0.8 m/s. The maximum
speed during neap tides reaches 0.8 m/s with a southward current direction, and there is a split
in current direction at the estuary due to the meeting of river and sea waters. The sediment
distribution shows significant sedimentation activity in the river and estuary areas, with an
average sediment thickness ranging from 0.5 to 1 m. This situation necessitates dredging for
the maintenance of navigation channels, with a total dredging volume requirement of
2,235,433.41 m³ per year. The results of this study provide a better understanding of current
dynamics and sediment distribution and can be used as a basis for future navigation channel
management and maintenance planning.
