Abstract

Rancangan menerapkan pola-pola Nature in the Space yang terdiri dari Visual Connection with Nature, Non-Visual Connection with Nature, Non-Rhythmic Sensory Stimuli, Thermal & Airflow Variability, Presence of Water, Dynamic & Diffuse Light, dan Connection with Natural Systems.

Mental fatigue is a challenge in learning environments. Students, both in high school and university, often experience mental fatigue due to high academic demands. The pressure faced by these students causes mental fatigue resulting from excessive use of Direct attention due to intensive study activities over extended periods. This mental fatigue can lead to decreased productivity, difficulty maintaining focus, reduced motivation, and increased stress and anxiety levels. This design aims to address mental fatigue by creating a learning environment with restorative effects in the design of the Learning Resource Center. The design uses a biophilic approach with the Nature in the Space strategy to create a restorative environment by integrating elements of nature both physically and non-physically. This strategy provides connectivity to nature, whether in natural (physical) or simulated (artificial) forms. The design incorporates Nature in the Space patterns, including Visual Connection with Nature, Non-Visual Connection with Nature, Non-Rhythmic Sensory Stimuli, Thermal & Airflow Variability, Presence of Water, Dynamic & Diffuse Light, and Connection with Natural Systems. A Force-based framework is used in the design process, considering data collection, local regulations, and context-related factors. Thus, it is hoped that the design will not only serve as a learning facility but also as a restorative environment that can help improve productivity and learning performance.
