Abstract

In modern society, the experience of eating and drinking often becomes transactional, including coffee culture. Each step in coffee preparation can convey cultural values, but when simplified into commercial transactions, these values diminish. Therefore, it is important for society to understand the cultural value of coffee to restore appreciation for its craftsmanship and cultural significance, and to enrich the sensory experience. The main goal of this design is to create a profound experience that revitalizes the essence of coffee and enhances awareness and appreciation of it.
The design approach used is existential phenomenology, which focuses on understanding fundamental aspects of human existence and experience. The narrative architecture design method is applied to utilize storytelling in design, with three main aspects: plot (storyline), perspective (point of view), and interactivity (interaction triggers). The result of this design reveals the concept of "existential dimensions," which include time, space, and sensory awareness, to create a deep and memorable architectural experience.
Applying these principles results in a building design that engages all the visitors' senses, deepens understanding and appreciation of coffee culture, and fosters a strong emotional connection between visitors and the place. This design not only enhances the authenticity of the coffee experience but also strengthens the cultural and historical significance of coffee in Kintamani.
