Abstract

Desain menggunakan konsep ruang publik komunal “Architecture as Equilibirum of Life” untuk merespon desain force harmony in life.

The fast-paced lifestyle has become deeply ingrained among the productive age group in major urban centers, including Surabaya. This phenomenon is closely associated with increasing temperatures, population density, traffic congestion, and economic and social pressures, all contributing to elevated stress levels. Consequently, the design of this communal public space facility aims to address the needs of urban residents by harmonizing a fast-paced lifestyle with the principles of slow living. The design exploration is grounded in neuroarchitecture theory, facilitating the creation of an optimal stress-relief facility. In the context of Surabaya, this phenomenon warrants examination and response by understanding the relationship between human behavior and sensory triggers through architectural elements. The design adopts the concept of communal public space “Architecture as Equilibrium of Life” to respond to the design force "Harmony in Life." Its goal is to create a facility that supports the balance of life for Surabaya residents, enabling them to achieve emotional, physical, and mental well-being. Employing a multi-layered design methodology, this plan focuses on spatial organization by integrating areas with diverse characteristics and dual functions. The design combines spatial qualities that support distraction and stress relief through the use of circulation paths, carefully selected materials and colors, and zoning based on user activities and sensory stimulation. Thus, the design of this communal public space aims to create an environment that significantly enhances the emotional and mental well-being of the productive age group in Surabaya by implementing architectural elements that stimulate positive perceptions through human sensory experiences.
