Abstract

Construction projects frequently undergo changes due to technological advancements, new standards, or project owner requests. These changes, known as addenda, can significantly impact worker performance at construction sites. This study investigates the effect of addenda on worker performance at construction sites, with a focus on how a sense of security during the contract period influences the final work outcomes. The objective of this research is to calculate working hours that meet the requirements for quantity, cost, and quality in accordance with site-specific needs. This study adopts a quantitative approach using survey methodology. The population comprises employees and workers involved in the Parapet Construction Project at Kali Putih, Kelurahan Pojok. A random sample of 72 respondents was drawn from a total population of 219 workers. The research instrument employed was a questionnaire designed to measure variables such as sense of security, work skills, job satisfaction, and work performance. The data were analyzed using the Partial Least Square – Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method, along with linear regression tests to examine the impact of addenda and the application of Value Engineering (VE). Based on the model assessing the influence of a sense of security on worker performance at construction sites during the contract period with addenda, where the exogenous latent variable is a sense of security and the endogenous latent variables are job satisfaction, work skills, and performance, this study provides empirical evidence as follows: At a significance level of α = 10%, a sense of security has a direct effect of 0.356 on worker performance in the Parapet Construction Project at Kali Putih, Kelurahan Pojok, and a significant indirect effect through the intervening variables of work skills and job satisfaction, amounting to 0.108 and 0.255, respectively.
