Abstract

Immaterial architecture is comprehended as a profound concept that emphasizes non- physical aspects, such as light, sound, sensory experiences, and semantic significance within architectural design. Dominantly, the immaterial concept is related to the expression of material properties, the transformation of materials and human perception. Human perception can be formed by producing a combination of beliefs that are culture-based. Although, there are various psychological and cultural differences, innate traits tend to be universal. Aesthetics drives the cognition process by stimulating the human senses. Ultimately, the concept of aesthetics in Islam intersects with the aspect of meaning in the theory of Immaterial architecture, where beauty is understood as something not limited to what is tangible but extends to the interpretation of the intangible. Aesthetic experience itself is a combination of sensory, formal and symbolic aesthetics. This experience underlies a multisensory architectural approach. Through this approach, the study aims to enrich visitors' experiences by creating spaces that harmonize materiality and spiritual values within the museum context. The concept of design involves the manipulation of space and spatial elements, utilizing light and shadow as components to enhance the experience over different periods and the aspect of sound and silence, which tends to provide contrast in each space. This research delves deeper into the interaction between museum space design and spiritual aspects using immaterial architecture theory as a development for exhibition spaces and artistic expression.
