Abstract

The construction of the Barge to Barge Coal Transfer Facility in North Kelanis, Central Kalimantan is part of efforts to improve logistics services around the Barito River and aims to facilitate coal transfer between ships, so that loading and unloading of coal can be carried out efficiently and speed up distribution to customers. This project involves the construction of a jetty that allows barges to dock and transfer coal. Based on the results of the soil investigation, the dock facility was built on soft soil 8 meters thick. The live load is estimated at q = 10 kN/m2 which is used in the embankment stability analysis. Based on the embankment stabilization analysis, the safety factor (SF) value was 1.12, so it is necessary to stabilize the embankment and improve the soil to prevent landslides and excessive consolidation settlement. Soft soil repairs that can be carried out on embankments around this pier construction project are using the Prevabricated Vertical Drain (PVD) method, while geotextiles are used to strengthen the stability of embankments. Based on the calculation results, PVD was used with a square installation pattern 8 m deep and an installation distance of 1 m. Before PVD was used, the reduction that occurred was 70.2 cm and a consolidation degree of 90% was achieved within 7 years. After repair using PVD with a square installation pattern, a consolidation degree of 90% was achieved within 7 weeks. To strengthen the stability of the embankment, 2 layers of 20.5 m geotextile were used with an installation distance of 0.5 m and the SF obtained after installation was 1.32
