Abstract

Danau Rawa Pening, salah satu danau terbesar di Jawa Tengah, mengalami permasalahan akibat sedimentasi yang terus meningkat. Pendangkalan yang terjadi disebabkan oleh sedimentasi dari berbagai sungai yang bermuara ke danau, termasuk Sungai Ngaglik. Sedimentasi yang terus meningkat di Danau Rawa Pening telah mengancam keberlangsungan hidup masyarakat sekitar. Pendangkalan danau menyebabkan penurunan kapasitas tampung air, meningkatkan resiko banjir, dan mengganggu aktivitas perikanan.Pembangunan check dam merupakan salah satu upaya untuk mengatasi permasalahan ini. Check dam bekerja dengan cara menahan aliran sedimen dan memperlambat aliran air, sehingga mengurangi laju sedimentasi yang masuk ke danau. Dengan demikian, diharapkan dapat mempertahankan kedalaman dan kualitas air danau, serta mengurangi resiko banjir. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang sebuah check dam sebagai upaya pengendalian sedimentasi pada Sungai Ngaglik. Check dam yang direncanakan disesuaikan dengan kondisi morfologi sungai dan karakteristik sedimen yang ada. Data tanah yang digunakan dalam perancangan diambil dari lokasi terdekat dengan sungai. Dengan adanya check dam, diharapkan dapat mengurangi laju sedimentasi yang masuk ke Danau Rawa Pening. Hal ini akan membantu mempertahankan kedalaman dan volume tampungan danau, serta memperbaiki kualitas air. Selain itu, check dam juga dapat berfungsi sebagai struktur pengendali banjir dan erosi.

Rawa Pening Lake, one of the largest lakes in Central Java, Indonesia, is facing a severe problem due to increasing sedimentation. The sedimentation, primarily from various rivers including the Ngaglik River, has caused significant shallowing of the lake. This continuous sedimentation poses a serious threat to the livelihoods of the surrounding communities. The reduced water storage capacity, increased flood risk, and disruption of fishing activities are some of the negative impacts. The construction of check dams is proposed as a solution to mitigate this issue. Check dams function by trapping sediment and slowing down water flow, thereby reducing the amount of sediment entering the lake. This is expected to maintain the lake's depth and water quality, as well as mitigate flood risks. This research aims to design a suitable check dam for sediment control in the Ngaglik River. The design will be tailored to the river's morphology and sediment characteristics. Soil data collected from the nearby area will be used for the design. It is anticipated that the implementation of check dams will significantly reduce the sedimentation rate in Rawa Pening Lake. This will help maintain the lake's depth and storage capacity, and improve water quality. Additionally, check dams can serve as structures for flood and erosion control.
