Abstract

Ships are a type of transportation that is often used in Indonesia because Indonesia is one of the largest archipelagic countries in the world. Not only used as transportation, several types of ships also function as tools to maintain and maintain state sovereignty, especially in the maritime sector. To strengthen the maritime fleet, it is necessary to develop and improve the quality of ships. Fast ships have large ship resistance due to their speed. This research aims to reduce wave resistance on Offshore Patrol Vessels by adding a Combined Wedge-Flap. This tool is installed at the stern under the ship's transom. In this research various variations will be simulated using the CFD method using the NUMECA FineMarine application. The dimensional parameters of the CWF that were varied were the width of the CWF at an angle of 2° and 2% Lpp. The total variations that will be simulated are 3 variations, namely 80% BT, 90% BT, and 100% BT. In addition, combined wedge-flap is simulated at speeds of 15 knots, 17 knots, and 20 knots. The simulation results show that the 80% BT CWF variation is the best CWF variation in reducing resistance, namely -2.17% or 1.52 kN at a speed of 15 knots, reducing resistance by -2.8% or 2.54 kN at a speed of 17 knots, and reduces resistance by -1.82% or 2.79 kN at a speed of 20 knots. In this research, the power requirements due to the installation of CWF were also analyzed. The results showed that the reduction in power due to the addition of CWF 80%BT at a speed of 15 knots was able to reduce power requirements by -3.29% or 40 kW, at a speed of 17 knots it was able to reduce power requirements by -3. .08% or 56 kW, and at a speed of 20 knots it can reduce power requirements by -3.26% or 120 kW.
