Abstract

Navigation is a process or system for determining the location and direction from one
place to another, whether on land, sea, or air. The innovation introduced is the Automatic
Identification System (AIS) which has automatic tracking using a transceiver on the ship and is
used to exchange data between other vessels and port components using VHF radio frequencies.
Using numerical methods, the research was conducted to determine the location for obtaining
ship traffic data in the North Java Sea and Lombok Strait. What is meant by propagation is the
process of spreading waves or signals from one place to another. Currently, many AIS stations
in Indonesia are only installed on beaches, placing AIS stations in high places proves that
mountains have the best frequency propagation. In this research, a comparison of 4 places will
be carried out to determine the location of the AIS station. As a result, only 2 places with signal
coverage reach the North Java Sea and the Lombok Strait. This research uses simulation to
determine the location with the best propagation.

Navigasi adalah proses atau sistem untuk menentukan lokasi dan arah dari satu tempat ke
tempat lain, baik di darat, laut, maupun udara. Inovasi yang diperkenalkan adalah Sistem
identifikasi Otomatis (AIS) yang memiliki pelacakan otomatis menggunakan transceiver di
kapal dan digunakan untuk bertukar data antara kapal lain dan komponen pelabuhan
menggunakan radio frekuensi VHF. Menggunakan metode numerik, penelitian ini dilakukan
untuk menentukan lokasi guna memperoleh data lalu kapal melintasi Laut Jawa Utara dan Selat
Lombok. Yang dimaksud dengan propagasi adalah proses penyebaran gelombang atau sinyal
dari satu tempat ke tempat lain. Saat ini, banyak stasiun AIS di Indonesia hanya dipasang di
pantai, namun pemasangan stasiun AIS di tempat tinggi membuktikan bahwa gunung memiliki
frekuensi propagasi terbaik. Dalam penelitian ini, perbandingan 4 tempat akan dilakukan untuk
menentukan lokasi stasiun AIS. Hasilnya, hanya 2 tempat dengan perlindungan sinyal yang
mencapai Laut Jawa Utara dan Selat Lombok. Penelitian ini menggunakan simulasi untuk
menentukan lokasi dengan propagasi terbaik.
