Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan mengoptimasi penggunaan ekstrak gambir sebagai inhibitor korosi pada stainless steel 316 (SS316) dalam media HCl menggunakan Response Surface Methodology (RSM). Metode ekstrapolasi Tafel dan Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) digunakan untuk mengevaluasi inhibisi korosi ekstrak gambir. Optimasi dilakukan dengan metode RSM dengan desain eksperimen Box-Behnken Design (BBD), dengan variabel perlakuan meliputi konsentrasi HCl, waktu perendaman, dan konsentrasi inhibitor untuk mencapai nilai arus korosi yang minimal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak gambir menunjukkan tipe penghambatan campuran dengan dominasi anodik berdasarkan nilai potensial korosi dari hasil ekstrapolasi Tafel. Metode EIS mengonfirmasi bahwa penambahan inhibitor ekstrak gambir 20 ppm secara signifikan mengurangi laju korosi pada SS316 dengan efisiensi inhibisi (%EI) sebesar 19,68%. Nilai ini dapat dioptimalkan lebih lanjut melalui variasi konsentrasi inhibitor dan waktu perendaman. Hasil optimasi menunjukkan kondisi optimal pada konsentrasi HCl 15% (v/v), waktu perendaman 6 jam, dan konsentrasi inhibitor 15 ppm dengan arus korosi sebesar 0,00221 A. Uji regresi polinomial orde dua menghasilkan koefisien determinasi sebesar 87,89%. Karakterisasi menggunakan FESEM-EDX juga mengonfirmasi adanya adsorpsi inhibitor ekstrak gambir pada permukaan SS316.

This research aims to optimize the use of gambier extract as a corrosion inhibitor on stainless steel 316 (SS316) in HCl media using Response Surface Methodology (RSM). Tafel extrapolation and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) methods were used to evaluate the corrosion inhibition of gambier extract. Optimization was carried out using the RSM method with a Box-Behnken Design (BBD) experimental design, with treatment variables including HCl concentration, soaking time, and inhibitor concentration to achieve a minimum corrosion current value. The results showed that gambier extract showed a mixed type of inhibition with anodic dominance based on the corrosion potential value from the Tafel extrapolation results. The EIS method confirmed that the addition of 20 ppm gambier extract inhibitor significantly reduced the corrosion rate on SS316 with an inhibition efficiency (%EI) of 19.68%. This value can be further optimized by varying the inhibitor concentration and soaking time. Optimization results show optimal conditions at a HCl concentration of 15% (v/v), soaking time of 6 hours, and inhibitor concentration of 15 ppm with a corrosion current of 0.00221 A. The second order polynomial regression test produces a coefficient of determination of 87.89%. Characterization using FESEM-EDX also confirmed the adsorption of gambier extract inhibitors on the surface of SS316.
