Abstract

The seismic hazard analysis study in the city of Semarang uses a deterministic method which will produce Peak Ground Acceleration (PGA) values for each active fault within a radius of 100 km from the city of Semarang. This method calculates the PGA value using the attenuation function Chiou Youngs 2008 and Boore Atkinson 2008. Next, VS30 survey data conducted by BMKG and active fault parameters are used. The PGA values resulting from these two attenuation functions are different because Chiou Youngs 2008 displays the effect of the distance from the fault source to the observation point. Meanwhile, Boore Atkinson 2008 displays the site's amplification function. The PGA value for each fault has the lowest value, namely <0.05 g and the highest value ranges from 0.4-0.5 g. The analysis results show that the farther the active fault source is from the city of Semarang, the smaller the resulting PGA value, so the risk of an earthquake is also small. Other PGA value factors are influenced by geological conditions and the VS30 value. The results of the PGA value are based on the potential, namely high PGA values occur in the southern and eastern parts of Semarang City, including the Districts of Gunung Pati, Mijen, Tembalang, Banyumanik, Gajahmungkur, Candisari, Pedurungan, Central Semarang, East Semarang, South Semarang, Gayamsari, West Semarang in the southern part, Mijen in the east, and Ngaliyan in the east. The PGA value is in the range of 0.15-0.2 g. This indicates that the faults in this area have an influence in providing a shaking effect on the city of Semarang. The opposite applies if the PGA is lower. Meanwhile, lower PGA values are in the range of 0.1-0.15 g, mainly found in the northern and western parts of Semarang City, including Tugu, Genuk, North Semarang, Mijen in the west, and Ngaliyan in the west.
