Abstract

=================================================================================================

Remanufacturing is one of the product recovery efforts that can reduce material requirements, energy, and the amount of emissions. On the other hand, remanufacturing can provide as good as new products at a lower price. Currently, Indonesia is being urged by various developed countries to accept remanufactured goods. The government, in this case the Ministry of Industry (MOI), seeks to protect the domestic industry by evaluating the feasibility of remanufacturing in Indonesia. Remanufacturing is a labor-intensive process because the core items or used products processed in remanufacturing are so varied that automation is not easy. In various remanufacturing practices, labor is very dominant. However, studies and analysis of labor in remanufacturing practices are very few in various literatures, especially in Indonesia.
This research aims to identify the existing conditions of the workforce in the remanufacturing company PT Komatsu Indonesia, determine the priority of hardskill and softskill competencies in the workforce, and analyze workforce perceptions. This study used interviews, FGDs, and questionnaires to produce an exploration of the workforce involved in remanufacturing practices from the management side and from the side of the workforce itself. The results show that the remanufacturing workforce, especially PT Komatsu Indonesia, has high competence supported by high standard training programs so that the workforce in remanufacturing and manufacturing can be rotated in positions and jobs without special skills. In addition, PT Komatsu Indonesia is an environmentally friendly job departing from the management of materials derived from used products. Meanwhile, the perception of the workforce is that there is no significant difference due to the same productivity and salary.
