Abstract

Potensi energi angin di Indonesia masih belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal. Pemanfaatan energi angin salah satunya adalah dengan VAWT Darrieus tipe H-Rotor merupakan jenis turbin yang beroperasi dengan memanfaatkan gaya lift. Gaya lift merupakan salah satu penentu performa turbin. Beberapa riset telah dilakukan untuk meningkatkan performa turbin ini, salah satunya adalah modifikasi blade turbin dengan menambahkan passive flow control berupa vortex generator (VG). Penambahan VG mampu meningkatkan performa turbin dengan mempercepat aliran mengalami transisi turbulen sehingga separasi aliran menjadi tertunda. Hal ini akan membuat gaya lift menjadi meningkat.Pada penelitian tugas akhir ini, simulasi dilakukan dengan analisis 2D pada turbin dengan penambahan VG pada blade yang dilakukan menggunakan software Ansys Fluent 18.1. Model dibuat dengan variasi posisi VG pada x/c = 15%, 20%, 25%. Turbin akan disimulasikan pada rentang TSR 0.3 hingga 3. Profil airfoil yang digunakan adalah seri NACA 0015 dengan panjang chord 0.4 m. Model 2D turbin disimulasikan dalam kondisi aliran transient dengan model turbulensi SST Transition. Berdasarkan hasil simulasi yang telah dilakukan diperoleh hasil bahwa, penambahan vortex generator pada VAWT Darrieus tipe H-Rotor akan berpengaruh terhadap fenomena fluida serta performa yang dihasilkan turbin. Penambahan VG akan meningkatkan coefficient of lift (Cl) yang berkontribusi pada peningkatan coefficient of power (Cp). Performa terbaik adalah saat VG pada x/c = 15% yang memberikan peningkatan tertinggi sebesar 21,77% pada TSR 1,38

The potential of wind energy in Indonesia has not been optimally utilized. One of the utilization of wind energy is with the Darrieus VAWT type H-Rotor, a type of turbine that operates by utilizing lift force. Lift force is one of the determinants of turbine performance. Several studies have been conducted to improve the performance of this turbine, one of which is the modification of the turbine blade by adding passive flow control in the form of a vortex generator (VG). The addition of VG can improve turbine performance by accelerating the flow experiencing a turbulent transition so that flow separation is delayed. This will increase the lift force. In this final project research, simulations were carried out with 2D analysis on the turbine with the addition of VG on the blade which was carried out using Ansys Fluent 18.1 software. The model was created with variations in the VG position at x/c = 15%, 20%, 25%. The turbine will be simulated in the TSR range of 0.3 to 3. The airfoil profile used is the NACA 0015 series with a chord length of 0.4 m. The 2D turbine model was simulated in transient flow conditions with the SST Transition turbulence model. Based on the simulation results that have been carried out, it is obtained that the addition of a vortex generator to the Darrieus VAWT type H-Rotor will affect the fluid phenomenon and the performance produced by the turbine. The addition of VG will increase the coefficient of lift (Cl) which contributes to an increase in the coefficient of power (Cp). The best performance is when VG at x/c = 15% which gives the highest increase of 21.77% at TSR 1.38.
