Abstract

Operational restrictions on Landing Craft Tanks (LCT), specifically the prohibition of using LCT as ferry vessels outlined in the Director General of Land Transportation Decree No. SK 885/AP.005/DRJD/2015 issued on March 15, 2015, have led to a surge in the conversion of LCT for use as other types of vessels, including as split hopper barges for transporting sand or mud. This Final Project discusses the conversion of an LCT into a Self-Propelled Split Hopper Barge (SPSHB), which involves modifications to the cargo hold and the forecastle deck. The converted SPSHB must adhere to technical requirements such as meeting the length regulations according to BKI rules, ensuring freeboard compliance with ICLL regulations, and maintaining ship stability in accordance with IMO standards. The modification of the LCT into an SPSHB in this final project includes redrawing the collected data and modeling the ship's hull using Maxsurf software. The calculations reveal a minimum modulus value of 49,268.57 cm³, a maximum allowable longitudinal stress of 1,125.35 kg/cm², a minimum freeboard height of 0.352 meters, and post-conversion ship stability meeting IMO regulations. The cost of converting an LCT into an SPSHB is IDR 1,481,748,743, with an NPV of IDR 777,340,000, an IRR of 16.21%, and a payback period of 8.97 years, making the conversion of LCT to SPSHB feasible.
