Abstract

This report discusses the application of 13 architectural competency standards in two architectural design projects. The first project (PPA 1) focuses on the design of a two-storey residential house in Lodtunduh-Ubud with a Bali Tropical Modern concept. The building design follows spatial and zoning divisions based on the Bali architectural concept, Sanga Mandala. The materials used create a tropical ambiance with color tones such as white, wood, gray, and local natural stone. Additionally, this report elaborates on the 13 architectural competency standards in the second project (PPA 2), which involves the design of a three-storey residential house in Mulyosari-Surabaya. This project was carried out as part of the SOC (Study of Campus) program at AER Design Studio. The design of this project embraces the Tropical Modern concept and is situated in an old residential area where a previous house was demolished to build a new one with a different concept. This building features an inner courtyard that functions as a light well and natural ventilation channel, using materials in white, gray, black, and natural stone. Through in-depth analysis and discussion, this report provides a comprehensive overview of the application of architectural competency standards in these two projects. From understanding design concepts to project management skills, this report demonstrates how architectural competency standards can be effectively implemented in real architectural design projects.
