Abstract

The Akimeugah Basin is a primary target for petroleum exploration, as demonstrated by the Woniwogi Formation, which can be regarded as a possible oil resource. The Nuginea Group (Yawee Formation) may be suitable as a reservoir rock. The use of seismic characteristics is designed to clarify abnormalities in seismic data that are not evident to the human eye, hence making it easier to identify target zones in the research region. The data used in this investigation includes 2D Post Stack Time Migration seismic data with 9 lines, well data, checkshot data, and geological data. The processing stage begins with data collection, followed by well analysis, wavelet extraction, well-to-seismic connection, picking fault and horizon, time and depth structure mapping, and seismic attribute application. The attributes used are RMS Amplitude, Sweetness, and Chaos. The target zone extends from the lower Yawee formation to the top of Piniya. Gas zones are identified using seismic properties such as rms amplitude and sweetness. Both features work well since the higher the amplitude and sweetness values, the better the potential for gas production. The gas zones associated with these two attributes are discovered on certain traces, with some spread out in close surrounding areas. The presence of gas chimneys in the study region is assumed to be the result of faults and chemical changes in the reservoir rock, which is historically enough to have fractures that can be utilized as migration paths.
