Abstract

This study aims to analyze the petrophysics of carbonate rocks using the Rock Typing R35 Winland method in the “VIPER” Field. Carbonate rocks, consisting of more than 50% carbonate minerals, exhibit heterogeneous porosity due to diagenesis, complicating characterization with conventional methods. Petrophysical analysis from 3 wells provided porosity and water saturation values: the average porosity of Viper-1 is approximately 19%, Viper-2 has a value of around 18%, and Viper-3 has a porosity value of about 23%. The water saturation values obtained are around 69% for well Viper-1, 63% for Viper-2, and 48% for Viper-3. Petrophysical analysis also included lumping or summarizing to identify hydrocarbon prospects, with Viper-3 showing the best hydrocarbon prospect, where the reservoir thickness containing hydrocarbons is about 62.640 ft. Rock typing was then performed using the R35 Winland method, resulting in 2 RTs: RT 1 and RT 2. RT was then mapped to wells without core data using RHOB log values to estimate permeability. The porosity range for RT 1 is approximately 2-16%, with a permeability range of about 0.001-0.144 mD. For RT 2, the porosity range is around 17-37% and the permeability range is around 36-569 mD.
