Abstract

This study focuses on petrophysical analysis to evaluate the petrophysical parameters of the Plover Formation in the Poseidon Field, Northwest Australia Basin. Porosity, shale content, water saturation, and permeability were identified in seven observed wells are Poseidon 1, Pharos, Poseidon 2, Torosa, Kronos, Proteus, and Boreas. Porosity and permeability were calculated using density and neutron logs and the Timur equation, while water saturation was calculated using the Indonesian equation. Results showed porosity variations from 5% to 43.76% and permeability from 0.02 mD to 9923 mD, indicating significant heterogeneity in reservoir characteristics. Integrated petrophysical modeling indicated that Zone 1 has high potential as a new drilling target, with high net pay values and optimal reservoir characteristics such as high effective porosity, low shale volume, low water saturation, and good permeability. This analysis facilitates the selection of new well prospect locations, enhancing the potential for hydrocarbon exploration and production in the area. The model's validity is supported by its proximity to existing wells, allowing for better data integration and higher modeling accuracy.
