Abstract

Indonesia is one of the countries that has a tropical climate where there are two seasons, namely dry and rainy. The change of seasons causes many diseases to emerge, one of which is Dengue Fever (DBD), this disease is caused by the Dengue virus which is transmitted from person to person through the bite of the Aides Aegypti mosquito. The number of dengue cases in 2022 jumped 94.8% compared to the previous year. The most cases were in West Java with 36.594 cases. This needs serious attention, because it causes death with a high mortality rate. In addition, nationally, West Java Province is ranked in the top 10 with the highest proportion of DBD cases in Indonesia. Therefore, to reduce dengue cases, an evaluation is needed to prevent and reduce it. One of the first steps in evaluating DBD cases is to find out the factors that affect the proportion of many DBD cases in West Java Province using statistical methods. The proportion of DBD cases and the factors that are thought to influence it are sourced from the West Java Health Profile and West Java In Figures, where the relationship pattern does not form a certain pattern, so the Spline Truncated nonparametric regression approach is recommended, because it has high flexibility and is able to adjust to the local characteristics of the data. The best Spline Truncated model is obtained using optimal knot points based on the minimum Generalized Cross Validation (GCV) value. Based on the results of the study, there are three predictor variables that influence the percentage of dengue cases including percentage of households with clean and healthy living behaviors, percentage of households with access to proper sanitation facilities, and the ratio of health workers with the best model is a combination of knots 3,2,2,1,1 with a coefficient of determination of 83,29%.
