Abstract

Traditional children's games, known as "dolanan anak," are played by children on the island of Java and encompass various categories, including games that require gross motor skills. These games not only impart universal noble values but also offer numerous benefits to children. However, technological advancements have diminished the popularity of dolanan anak. Data collected by the Central Statistics Agency in 2022 indicates that 33.44% of children aged 0-6 use gadgets. Moreover, many parents refrain from introducing their children to dolanan anak due to various internal factors, such as the lack of available time.
This design employs a qualitative and experimental approach. Qualitative methods include conducting in-Depth interviews with expert sources and target audience informants. The results obtained through qualitative methods are used to analyze information and data at the initial stages of the design process. This is followed by experimental studies to create the initial concept of the design. The findings from the research process will serve as a reference for the stages of designing a short film, which will be divided into several phases, including pre-production, production, post-production, and distribution.
The design culminates in a short film titled "Dolanan Dolanan," which has a duration of 30 minutes and narrates the childhood of a woman who spent her early years playing traditional gross motor skill games with her friends. The film features games commonly played by the target audience, aiming to evoke nostalgia within the drama genre. The resulting short film will be uploaded to YouTube to reach the intended audience.
