Abstract
============================================================
Technological developments influenced the integration between technology and learning. This influence has the potential affect to create interactions and new ways of learning in semi-learning environment, especially in the library. Interaction in the context of technological development offers users to inhabit a virtual environment which is called inhabitation, with an immersive experience as a fundamental aspect. Space narrative is the main idea to provide a deeper immersive experience using ‘real’ and virtual materials for learning functions, with play-based learning which observes children's interactions and behavior in learning as design transformation idea.
The design applies the Concept-Based Framework which has hypothesis that the library presents the concept of playful architecture in the context of a semi-formal environment, by integrating ‘real’ and virtual elements based on mixed-reality (MR). The hypothesis aims to increased interaction and learning motivation, integrate technology with space, and develop new functions of library space in the future. The results of the exploration are supported by the results of observations and interviews which are translated using domain-to-domain transfer to obtain the playful principle to develop interactive learning in library design.
The output is a schematic design of the library with fantasy labyrinth configuration concept built from a play-based learning program through virtual holograms and diffusion air distribution system for mixed-reality (MR) considered by texture, natural light, and shape to maintain direct learning interactions. The interactive space narrative represents the quality of the themes of geography, flora, and astronomy that are integrated with the interior space through consideration of sensory interactions with 'real' and virtual mixed-reality (MR) elements that can improve the quality of inhabitation as a future design for library.
