Abstract

Coal is still one of the main fuels in the international energy system. Indonesia is one of the largest coal producers in the world. In the coal distribution process, there is a part called the transhipment process or STS (Ship to Ship). PT Cotrans Asia as a subcontractor for coal transhipment by PT Kideco Jaya Agung must be able to meet buyer demand with the facilities it has. Complex elements in coal transhipment such as tug and barge, jetty stockpile, floating crane, shipping distance, and dynamic demand require the company to optimize so as to produce an efficient system that can meet buyer demand. However, in the transhipment process, many inefficiencies are found such as the mother vessel queue in the laoding point area, demurrage, over shortage cargo, and high transhipment costs. Therefore, this study aims to simulate the transhipment process starting from coal in the jetty stockpile until the coal is transferred to the mother vessel. The method used is agent-based simulation with the help of anylogic 8.9.0 edition software. The simulation result with the most efficient value is with scenario 3, which is by adding 3 barges measuring 7.500 DWT. The simulation result is that the average waiting time of the mother vessel is 2,3 days per ship with a total efficiency cost incurred of Rp140.012.440.758.
