Abstract

Ultra-Wideband (UWB) is a system known for its extremely wide bandwidth. When applied to the human body, the UWB channel often exhibits Non-Line-of-Sight (NLOS) characteristics, meaning its signal path to the receiver is obstructed by surrounding objects. This can result in a degradation of UWB signal quality, leading to increased loss, delay spread, and energy density. In such scenarios, the polarization of the antenna can help mitigate the Non-Line-of-Sight (NLOS) effects in UWB applications. This is due to the interaction between electromagnetic waves and the electric and magnetic fields. Additionally, the environment significantly influences the measured parameters, as there are absorption and reflection boundaries on the body concerning its surroundings. Therefore, experiments will be conducted in closed environments. The research involves simulations to gather data on path loss, delay spread, energy density, impulse response, and scattering parameters. Subsequently, this data will be presented in the form of Cumulative Distribution Function (CDF) graphs using Matlab. From the results obtained, the amount is increased by cable loss which is in various smaller and wider environments. Room B306a introduces more complexity in signal transmission compared to Room B306. This can be seen from the lower magnitude values, more complex impulse responses, and larger delay spreads in closed environments. Variations in transmission performance are also influenced by the type of antenna polarization, with each polarization showing a different response to environmental and room conditions.
