Abstract

Nowadays, biofuel is become one of the main aspect of the research. It is caused by the imbalance between the availability of fosil fuels in the world and the increasing of energy consumption. Because of that, the research on pre-treatment of waste treatment as the organic carbon resource has an urgency to be done, so it can produce the organic carbon that will be treated furthermore to be a biofuel. The objective of this research is to define the best effect of Trichoderma viride and Aspergillus niger mixture to the biological treatment of coconut shell and also the effect to the quantity of organic carbon resource (in this case is glucose). This research was started by steam-treatment process, in the optimum operating condition from the previous research (Arias, 2011) at 2 bar steam pressure (pre-steam-treatment) during 10 minutes, the addition of 2% H2SO4, continued with steam treatment at 210°C during 5 minute. After steam treatment, then the biological treatment using Trichoderma viride and Aspergillus niger were added by 20% (v/v) concentration of fungus mixture and the variables of mixture ratio Aspergillus niger : Trichoderma viride were 1:0, 1:2, 1:3, 0:1, 2:1, 3:1 (v/v). This biological treatment process was done in 10 days (until glucose contains being constant). From the research results, it reports that the best amount of glucose as organic carbon source for biofuel production was A.niger and T.viride ratio 1:2 (v/v), during 96 hours with glucose yield of 41.168% (24.873 g/L) and A.niger and T.viride ratio 2:1 (v/v), during 96 hours with glucose yield of 40.349% (24.378 g/L)
