Abstract

A maze game usually uses a two dimensional map that is also drawn using two dimensional graphics which can sometimes make the game visually less interesting or even boring. Games that use three dimensional graphics are usually visually more interesting compared to games with two dimensional graphics. In this final project, the author develops the Maze Escape game which implements the raycasting algorithm, which is a pseudo – 3D rendering algorithm that can generate a three dimensional game world from a two dimensional map. The functionality test results of this game show that the raycasting algorithm can be used to create a three dimensional representation of a game world which matches the two dimensional map that is used and the user testing results show that the pseudo – 3D graphics generated by the raycasting algorithm give the game a more interesting look.
