Abstract

Breakwater is a structure built to protect coastal areas from ocean wave energy and prevent erosion. Its function is to dampen the force of waves, creating a quieter area behind it. This study aims to evaluate the stability of breakwater structures using armor units of the BPPT-Lock type. The study was conducted using a physical model test method using two variations of breakwater layout structure, three variations of wave height and four variations of wave period. Tests were conducted at the Coastal and Port Infrastructure Laboratory, ITS Ocean Engineering with a physical model to analyze the performance and resistance of the breakwater structure to waves. The results showed that wave height and period directly affect the stability of the breakwater. And the second layout is more effective in resisting waves because it produces a smaller percentage of damage despite receiving waves with the same steepness, with a range of percentage damage in layout one of 0.13-2.4% while in layout two it is 0.11-1.52%. As well as obtaining a regression model for predicting the stability number in this study, so that it can be a reference in planning and designing breakwaters that are more effective and efficient.
