Abstract

Mesin GX35 merupakan mesin 4 tak 1 silinder berkapasitas 35 cc. Mesin ini dapat dimanfaatkan pada bermacam-macam aplikasi, tetapi karena masih menggunakan recoil starter maka dapat mempersulit operator pada saat menyalakan mesin. Terhadap permasalahan tersebut dibutuhan perubahan sistem starter menjadi electric starter agar mempermudah Start pada mesin. Sistem electric starter merupakan salah satu kemajuan teknologi di bidang transportasi dan merupakan langkah inovasi yang dikembangkan dan banyak penerapannya pada kendaraan bermotor. Secara umum, penggantian sistem starter konvensional ke sistem electric starter dimaksudkan agar dapat meningkatkan kemudahan dalam menghidupkan mesin. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan menggunakan metode perhitungan analitis dan eksperimen. Proses perhitungan termodinamika digunakan untuk mengetahui daya yang dibutuhkan untuk memperoleh kompresi. Hasil perhitungan digunakan sebagai dasar dilakukannya perancangan yang kemudian dilanjutkan dengan proses manufaktur. Dari hasil perancangan didapatkan sistem starter listrik bekerja pad a kecepatan 400 rpm pada starter gear dengan arus rata-rata sebesar 27,7 A dan voltage rata-rata 12,6V saat motor menyala dan dapat memutar poros engkol sehingga dapat menyalakan mesin GX35. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa hasil perancangan pada modifikasi recoil starter menjadi electric starter pada mesin GX35 dapat dikatakan berhasil.

The GX35 engine is a 4 stroke 1 cylinder engine with a capacity of 35 cc. This engine can be utilized in various applications, but because it still uses a recoil starter it can make it difficult for the operator when starting the engine. Against these problems, it is necessary to change the starter system to an electric starter to make it easier to start the engine. The electric starter system is one of the technological advances in the field of transportation and is an innovative step that is developed and has many applications in motor vehicles. In general, the replacement of the conventional starter system to the electric starter system is intended to increase the ease of starting the engine. This research was carried out using analytical and experimental calculation methods. The thermodynamic calculation process is used to determine the power required to obtain compression. The results of the calculation are used as the basis for the design which is then continued with the manufactring process. From the design results, the electric starter system works at a speed of 400 rpm on the starter gear with an average current of 27.7 A and an average voltage of 12.6V when the motor starts and can rotate the crankshaft so that it can start the GX35 engine. The results of this study indicate that the results of the design on the modification of the recoil starter into an electric starter on the GX35 engine can be said to be successful.
