Abstract

Dengan kemajuan teknologi komunikasi sekarang di mana 5G sudah menjadi standar di berbagai negara, riset untuk implementasi 6G sudah banyak dimulai. Salah satu komponen 6G yang dapat membantu komunikasi yang lebih canggih adalah Visible Light Communication (VLC). VLC adalah teknologi komunikasi yang menggunakan cahaya kasatmata sebagai media koneksi. Transmitter dan receiver untuk komunikasi berbentuk LED dan photodetector. Alasan VLC menjadi teknologi yang menjanjikan untuk 6G adalah untuk jarak dekat lebih tinggi data rate-nya dibandingkan frekuensi radio, serta gelombang frekuensi VLC tidak berlisensi dan bebas digunakan. Untuk menguji coba seberapa efektif sistem VLC, tugas akhir ini akan melakukan simulasi sistem VLC dengan MATLAB. Sistem modulasi yang akan diuji coba adalah OFDM. Nilai yang dicari adalah Bit Error Rate (BER), Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) dan daya yang diterima. Dari nilai tersebut dapat diolah menjadi luas area cakupan dan daya rata-rata yang diterima dalam ruangan.

With the advancements of communication technology where 5G is already a standard in many countries, much research for the implementation of 6G has been started. A component of 6G that could advance it is Visible Light Communication (VLC). VLC is a communication technology where it uses visible light as the connection medium. It uses LED as the transmitter and photodetector as the receiver. The reason why VLC is a promising technology for 6G is that the data rate for close range communication is far higher than radio frequency, and it doesn’t use licensed bandwidth. To test out how effective a VLC system is, this final project is doing a MATLAB simulation of VLC system with OFDM modulation. To compare the probability error of a VLC system, the variable of this simulation includes the Line-of-Sight and topology of VLC systems. The goal this simulation is to find the Bit Error Rate (BER), Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR), and the received power. After finding those values, it can be converted to coverage area and average power received in a room.
