Abstract

PT Pertamina International Refinery requires a site assessment of land conditions and subsurface utility networks in the Pertamina RU IV Cilacap area in the context of refinery development efforts. This research aims to detect and map subsurface utilities such as pipes and cables. Utility mapping uses Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and pipe locator methods. The GPR frequency antenna used is 400 MHz, with a total of 466 passes, the shortest GPR pass length is about 3.3m and the longest pass is about 32.8m. The research area is divided into 4 research areas: Area B, C, D, and E. GPR data processing uses several filter stages, such as move start time, bandpass filter, gain, background removal, FK filter, and time to depth correction. Interpretation of radargram results identified 2 types of hyperbola-shaped anomalies suspected to be pipes and cables. To validate the results of GPR data interpretation, pipe locator data was used.
The results showed the presence of pipe/cable lines in all four areas; in Area B, 9 lines were found with the dominant directions of west-east, north-south, and northeast-southwest, having an average depth of 0.5-0.86m. Area C found 5 west-east lines with an average depth of 0.5-1.05m. Area D found 4 lines having a north-south direction with a depth of 0.6-1.4 m, while Area E found 8 north-south lines with a depth of 0.6-0.9m.
