Abstract

Industri pertambangan memainkan peran penting dalam pembangunan ekonomi, namun aktivitas operasinya seringkali menimbulkan dampak buruk terhadap lingkungan, sosial dan banyaknya perusahaan yang hanya mementingkan keuntungan. Sehingga pentingnya menerapkan prinsip-prinsip ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) pada perusahaan untuk menciptakan bisnis yang berkelanjutan. Tesis ini mengkaji penerapan ESG pada PT. X sebagai perusahaan pertambangan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dan menggunakan analisis deskrptif dengan metode design thinking. Observasi dan wawancara dilakukan di PT. X dan menggunakan informan dari manajemen PT. X. Penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk menemukan strategi yang efektif dalam penerapan ESG dalam memperkuat keberlanjutan bisnis di PT. X dengan menggunakan indikator-indikator dari Panduan Pelaporan ESG yang menggunakan Global Reporting Standard (GRI) di sektor pertambangan. Berdasarkan hasil analisis ditemukan bahwa penerapan ESG di PT. X telah mencapi persentase 95% dari standar GRI Batu Bara. Terdapat satu indikator yang belum terlaksana yakni indikator air dan effluen pada environmental aspect. Alternatif strategi yang dikembangkan dengan metode design thinking berupa pembuatan kolam tadah air hujan, remote control waterfill, dan automatic sprayer.

The mining industry plays an important role in economic development, but its operational activities often have negative impacts on the environment and society and many companies only care about profits. Thus, it is important to apply ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) principles to companies to create a sustainable business. This thesis examines the application of ESG at PT. X as a mining company. This research is qualitative research and uses descriptive analysis with the design thinking method. Observations and interviews were carried out at PT. X and used informants from PT.X management. This research also aims to find effective strategies in implementing ESG in strengthening business sustainability at PT. X using indicators from the ESG Reporting Guide which uses the Global Reporting Standard (GRI) in the mining sector. Based on the results of the analysis, it was found that the implementation of ESG at PT. X has achieved a percentage of 95% of the GRI Batu Bara standard. There is one indicator that has not been implemented, namely the water and effluent indicators in the environmental aspect. Alternative strategies developed using the design thinking method include the creation of rainwater catchment ponds, remote control waterfills, and automatic sprayers.
