Abstract

This study aims to develop dynamic system modeling to establish a sustainable supply chain framework for managing core and smallholder palm oil plantations. while considering ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) factors. The increasing global awareness of environmental concerns has encouraged the adoption of sustainability practices in palm oil plantation management. The implementation of sustainability practices in palm oil plantation management provides several benefits, such as improving access to international markets for both smallholder and core plantations. By integrating ESG and sustainable supply chain principles, this study analyzes the environmental, social, economic, and governance impacts of the palm oil industry. Dynamic system modeling captures the complex interactions between core and smallholder plantations, guiding the creation of targeted policies to enhance both industry sustainability and community welfare. The results of this study show that the high operational costs borne by plasma farmers and the inequities in the partnership system are the main barriers to the adoption of sustainable practices. Scenarios such as the implementation of agricultural technology, profit-sharing systems based on FFB production, and training for plasma farmers in the application of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) have proven effective in increasing income, reducing plantation operational costs, and lowering CO2 emissions.
