Abstract

Keandalan operasional Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Uap (PLTU) pada turbin uap, generator, dan transformator sangat penting untuk menjaga stabilitas pasokan listrik ke beban beban kerja. Oleh karena itu, evaluasi sistem proteksi menjadi krusial dalam melindungi peralatan kelistrikan ini dari gangguan baik yang berasal dari internal maupun eksternal sistem. PT PLN Nusantara Power Unit Pembangkit Tenayan menjadi salah satu PLTU untuk menyulai daya listrik sebesar 2x110MW di Provinsi Riau. Berdasarkan laporan lapangan, PLTU Tenayan sering mengalami false trip sehingga menyebabkan blackout pada generator. Kejadian ini dipicu karena kejadian transient di sisi transmisi dan distribusi beban internal, seperti gangguan hubung singkat atau sambaran petir. Dari observasi yang dilakukan, terdapat miskoordinasi pada kerja rele proteksi menjadi penyebab trip tidak bekerja sesuai zona operasinya. Dari permasalahan tersebut, penelitian tugas akhir ini bertujuan untuk melakukan evaluasi kembali nilai pengaturan terhadap beberapa rele internal generator dan transformator, sehingga dapat bekerja selektif dan menimalisir kerusakan pada generator-transformator. Evaluasi berfokus pada rele eksitasi berlebih, rele tegangan rendah dan berlebih, rele daya terbalik, rele hilang medan, rele arus berlebih urutan negatif, rele beban berlebih termal, rele arus berlebih fasa, rele arus berlebih ke tanah, rele tegangan berlebih netral, rele isolasi belitan rotor, rele sinkronisasi, rele frekuensi rendah dan berlebih, serta rele diferensial. Simulasi gangguan hubung singkat didapatkan melalui simulasi software ETAP 21 dan perhitungan pengaturan rele melalui Microsoft Excel. Hasil dari tugas akhir ini dapat menjadi pertimbangan dan rekomendasi untuk PT PLN Nusantara Power Unit Pembangkit Tenayan untuk meningkatkan selektivitas rele proteksi dalam meminimalisir false trip dan melindungi generator dari kerusakan.

The operational reliability of Coal Fired Power Plant (CFPP), particularly in steam turbines, generators, and transformers, is essential to ensure the stability of electricity source to electrical loads. Therefore, evaluating the protection systems is fundamental to preserving these electrical components from internal and external faults. PT PLN Nusantara Power Unit Pembangkit Tenayan operates CFPP 2x110MW of electricity in the Province of Riau. On-site reports indicate frequent false trips caused generator blackout at CFPP Tenayan. These incidents are triggered by transients on the transmission side and internal load distribution, such as short-circuit faults or lightning strikes. Observations revealed that miscoordination in the operation of protective relays is the cause of false trips to operate within their designated zones. To address this issue, this final project aims to re-evaluate the relay settings for several internal generator and transformer protection relays to ensure selective operation and minimize damage to the generator-transformer system. The evaluation focuses on overexcitation relays, undervoltage and overvoltage relays, reverse power relays, loss of field relays, negative sequence overcurrent relays, thermal overload relays, phase overcurrent relays, ground overcurrent relays, neutral overvoltage relays, rotor winding insulation relays, out of step relays, underfrequency and overfrequency relays, and differential relays. Short-circuit fault simulations were conducted using ETAP 21 software and relay setting calculations were performed using Microsoft Excel. The results of this final project can serve as considerations and recommendations for PT PLN Nusantara Power Unit Pembangkit Tenayan to improve relay protection selectivity, minimize false trips, and protect generators from damage.
