Abstract

CCTV based surveillance systems are one way to maintain security and operational efficiency in the industrial sector. However, based on the author's survey, the challenges in CCTV surveillance in industrial areas include suboptimal camera placement causing blind spots, increased CCTV installation costs, and inefficient surveillance. This study aims to develop an innovative model in determining CCTV placement in industrial areas by integrating CCTV Design Tools and the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) analytical method. This approach begins with a camera placement simulation using CCTV Design Tools to produce a visualization of area coverage. The simulation data is then analyzed using the SAW method to evaluate alternative camera locations based on multi-factor criteria, including area coverage, installation costs, and operational efficiency. The alternative with the highest score is selected as the optimal solution. This study conducted at a metal smelting and refining industrial facility (PT XYZ), with four critical zones analyzed: Access Gate / Perimeter, Production Zone, Storage Warehouse, and Loading dock. The results showed that the integration of CCTV Design Tools and SAW was able to increase area coverage by 20%, reduce installation costs by 15%, and increase operational efficiency by 18%. Then validation of the results was carried out through discussions with the security team, which stated that the proposed solution was relevant to their operational needs.
