Abstract
Industri furnitur di Indonesia berperan penting dalam perekonomian nasional. Namun, persaingan ketat dengan produk impor serta tantangan dalam menghadapi perubahan preferensi konsumen pasca-pandemi mengharuskan pelaku bisnis untuk meningkatkan kinerja karyawannya. Kepemimpinan berkelanjutan (sustainable leadership) dianggap dapat menjadi solusi dalam meningkatkan kinerja individu karyawan di tengah persaingan global yang semakin kompetitif. Meskipun penelitian terdahulu telah membuktikan pengaruh dari kepemimpinan dalam kinerja idividu karyawan, penelitian dalam konteks industri furnitur masih terbatas. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh kepemimpinan berkelanjutan terhadap persepsi kinerja individu karyawan di industri furnitur di Indonesia, dengan orientasi pelanggan sebagai variabel mediasi dan pemberdayaan karyawan sebagai variabel moderasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) untuk menguji hipotesis yang diajukan. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner yang disebarkan kepada responden yang bekerja di UMKM furnitur di Indonesia menggunakan metode snowball sampling di ketiga kota utama penghasil furnitur, yaitu Bandung, Jepara, dan Surabaya. Hasil penelitian ini adalah terdapat peran yang positif pada sustainable leadership dan individual performance di industri furnitur Indonesia, dengan customer orientation menjadi mediasi dalam hubungan keduanya. Dengan ini, dapat memberikan wawasan praktis mengenai bagaimana kepemimpinan berkelanjutan dapat meningkatkan kinerja karyawan di industri furnitur melalui peningkatan orientasi pelanggan dan pemberdayaan karyawan, yang pada akhirnya membantu pelaku bisnis lokal untuk tetap kompetitif dalam pasar global yang dinamis.

The furniture industry in Indonesia plays a crucial role in the national economy. However, intense competition with imported products and the challenges of adapting to shifting consumer preferences in the post-pandemic era compel businesses to enhance employee performance. Sustainable leadership is considered a potential solution to improve individual performance amidst increasingly competitive global markets. Although previous studies have demonstrated the influence of leadership on individual performance, research within the context of the furniture industry remains limited. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the impact of sustainable leadership on employees' individual performance in Indonesia's furniture industry, with customer orientation as a mediating variable and employee empowerment as a moderating variable. This research adopts a quantitative approach using the Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method to test the proposed hypotheses. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to respondents working in furniture SMEs in Indonesia, utilizing the snowball sampling method across three major furniture-producing cities, that is Bandung, Jepara, and Surabaya. The findings indicate a positive role of sustainable leadership on individual performance in Indonesia's furniture industry, with customer orientation serving as a mediator in their relationship. These results offer practical insights into how sustainable leadership can enhance employee performance in the furniture sector by improving customer orientation and empowering employees. Ultimately, this approach can help local businesses remain competitive in a dynamic global market.
