Abstract

Passenger comfort is an important factor in sea transportation, especially on the Jepara – Karimunjawa route, which is a strategic route for tourists. This study aims to increase the comfort level of fast boat passengers using a questionnaire method, involving 25 selected respondents. Data is collected based on four main aspects: level of seasickness (motion sickness), sources of discomfort, passenger habits, and evaluation of ship facilities. The research results show that seating position influences the level of comfort, with the middle being the most stable position (MSI 12.5%), while the stern shows the highest MSI level reaching 50%. The main factors for discomfort were ship movement, vibration and interference, although aspects of the facility such as the layout of the passenger compartment showed relatively good scores. Comfort levels tend to decrease with the duration of the trip, especially after one to two hours of sailing. This study provides an overview of passengers' assessments of comfort on board ships.
