Abstract

Complex technological changes require companies to adopt flexible and collaborative approaches, such as social agile practices and technical agile practices, to improve team performance. Social agile practices focus on social interactions, while technical agile practices cover technical implementation. This study aims to analyze the effect of both practices on team performance in the engineering division of an information technology startup. This study uses a quantitative approach involving 96 employees as respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires using three measuring instruments: the Teamwork Competency Scale (TCS), the Social Agile Practice (SAP) Scale, and the Technical Agile Practice (TAP) Scale. Data was analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) based on Partial Least Squares (PLS) with SmartPLS software. The results showed that social agile practices had a significant effect on team performance with a t-statistic value of 5.339 (t >1.96) and a p-value of 0.000 (p <0.05), which confirmed the effectiveness of activities such as daily stand-ups and retrospectives. In contrast, technical agile practices did not have a significant effect on team performance, with a t-statistic value of 1.559 (t < 1.96) and a p-value of 0.119 (p > 0.05). In conclusion, social agile practices are the key element in improving team performance through improved communication and collaboration. These findings support the theory of Agile Software Development Practices (ASDP) and provide practical insights for companies in optimizing agile practices according to organizational needs.
