Abstract

In this day and age, adaptability is critical in many contexts, including the field of architecture. Adaptable architecture is an architectural theory that discusses the ability of a building to effectively adapt to the ever-changing needs of its users and environment, so that it can maximize its value throughout its lifetime. This adaptability has great significance in the architectural context, where the goal is to meet diverse demands without compromising the environmental sustainability of the design site. This final project raises the concept of edible architecture, which is an attempt to integrate architecture and food from a material perspective. This integration uses sustainable materials in the form of plants as living structures and animals (supports) to respond to the carbon footprint caused by food distribution and the architectural materials themselves. In its application, this concept uses an edible-living architecture approach with the adaptable:refitable method and is supported by 3D modeling tools. This concept design integrates architecture, plants, animals and humans as users directly into an environmentally friendly ecology in urban areas. The design is realized in a typology that combines restaurants, biodiversity areas and tourism. The research results show that the refitable approach in edible landscapes allows the modification of design elements according to specific needs, seasons and concepts, creating dynamic and sustainable spaces. Integrating the atmospheric design of the growing spaces creates a spatial experience that is interactive and responsive to seasonal cycles and plant growth.
