Abstract

Motorcycle modifications with aftermarket components, such as racing exhausts and programmable ECUs, have become a popular trend to enhance engine performance without altering the original components. This study aims to analyze the effects of using three types of exhausts (standard, round racing, trioval racing) and four levels of ignition timing (standard, IT STD +2°, IT STD +4°, IT STD +6°) on power, torque, fuel efficiency, and exhaust emissions of a 2011 Yamaha Vixion motorcycle. The experimental method was conducted by dividing the test subjects into 12 treatment groups, utilizing a dynamometer and gas analyzer for data measurement. The results showed that IT STD +4° was the best setting for the standard exhaust, while the combination of round or trioval racing exhausts with IT STD +2° provided optimal performance, achieving a maximum power output of up to 17.2 HP. This study concludes that the combination of racing exhausts and appropriate ignition timing settings can significantly improve engine performance while also optimizing fuel efficiency and reducing exhaust emissions, making it a valuable reference for both users and manufacturers of aftermarket components.
