Abstract
Indonesia, yang memiliki populasi sekitar 275 juta jiwa pada 2024, menghadapi tantangan besar dalam mengurangi emisi gas rumah kaca, khususnya dari sektor transportasi dan pelayaran yang berperan besar dalam polusi udara dan perubahan iklim. Salah satu metode untuk mengurangi emisi tersebut adalah penggunaan katalitik konverter yang berfungsi untuk menyaring gas emisi dari kendaraan. Tanah liat dan kulit pisang mempunyai karbon aktif dapat menjadi alternatif bahan pebuatan katalis. Penelitian ini menggununakan akan mengukur kadar gas emisi yang dihasilkan katalis konverter yang terbuat dari campuran tanah liat dan kulit pisang dengan 4 variasi diameter lubang katalis mulai dari 6 mm, 7 mm, 8 mm, 9 mm. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian didapatkan bahwa katalis dari kulit pisang dan tanah liat paling efisien mengurangi emisi CO2 pada diameter lubang katalis 6 mm dengan pengurangan hingga 13.6% . dan katalis dengan diameter 8 mm paing efisien mengurangi kadar gas emisi NOx hingga 17.8%

Indonesia, with a population of approximately 275 million people in 2024, faces significant challenges in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, particularly from the transportation and shipping sectors, which play a major role in air pollution and climate change. One method to reduce these emissions is the use of catalytic converters, which filter emission gases from vehicles. Clay and banana peel, which contain activated carbon, can be alternative materials for making catalysts. This study aims to measure the emission gas levels produced by catalytic converters made from a mixture of clay and banana peel with four variations of catalyst hole diameters: 6 mm, 7 mm, 8 mm, and 9 mm. Based on the research results, it was found that the catalyst made from banana peel and clay was most efficient in reducing CO2 emissions at a catalyst hole diameter of 6 mm, with a reduction of up to 13.6%, while the catalyst with an 8 mm diameter was most efficient in reducing NOx emissions, achieving a reduction of up to 17.8%.
