Abstract
Bawang merah merupakan salah satu sayuran unggulan yang sejak lama telah diusahakan oleh petani intensif. Sayuran ini termasuk ke dalam kelompok rempah yang berfungsi sebagai bumbu penyedap makanan serta bahan obat tradisional. Untuk memproses menjadi bawang goreng, bawang merah harus melalui pengupasan kulit bawang supaya bersih sebelum di rajang. Untuk saat ini proses pengupas dan perajang bawang merah dilakukan secara manual, hal ini menyebabkan tenaga yang dibutuhkan lebih banyak serta waktu yang diperlukan lebih lama. Oleh karena itu dibutuhkan mesin yang bekerja secara continue untuk pengupas dan perajang bawang merah agar lebih efisien dan efektif. Dalam perwujudan mesin pengupas dan perajang bawang merah, perlu dilakukan observasi lapangan serta study literature tentang pengupas dan perajang bawang merah. Mempertimbangkan observasi dan study literature yang telah dilakukan, direncanakan perhitungan gaya dan daya, elemen mesin (Belt, Pulley, Poros, Pasak). Setelah mesin selesai, dilakukan uji kinerja, serta kapasitas dari hasil perencanaan mesin pengupas dan perajang bawang merah di dapatkan mesin yang sangat membantu umkm bawang goreng.

Red onion the are one of the leading vegetables that have been cultivated by intensive farmers for a long time. This vegetable belongs to the group of spices which function asfood seasonings and traditional medicinal ingredients. To process red onion, you have to do stripping so that they are clean from the red onion skin before chopping. For now, the process of peeling and chopping red onion is done manually, this causes more labor and time required. Therefore we need a machine that works continuously for red onion peeler and chopper to make it more efficient and effective. In the embodiment of the red onion peeler and chopper machine, it is necessary to carry out field observations and study literature on the red onion peeler and chopper. Considering the observations and literature studies that have been carried out, it is planned to calculate the force and power, machine elements (belts, pulleys, shafts, pegs). After the machine was finished, performance tests were carried out, as well as capacity from the results of the planning of the red onion peeler and chopper machine to get a machine that was very helpful for fried onions.
