Abstract
Adanya distribusi temperatur pada salah satu dinding boiler di PT. UP PJB Paiton, yang untuk sementara diduga karena adanya penyimpangan pergeseran dari bola api. Ditinjau dari pengamatan satu pulverizer coal, salah satu faktor yang menyebabkan ketidakseimbangan tersebut adalah perbedaan tekanan (pressure drop) yang tidak sama, sehingga kecepatan yang keluar dari coal pipe tidak seragam. Pneumatic conveying merupakan aplikasi untuk aliran dua fase material handling sistem. Penelitian ini menggunakan udara (gas) sebagai media pembawa dan fase padat (solid) berupa serbuk batubara. Dengan memvariasikan ukuran partikel dan laju aliran massa partikel,diharapkan diperoleh visualisasi aliran, penurunan tekanan pada masing-masing coal pipe, dan pola aliran.Data penelitian ini diambil dari PT. UP PJB Paiton Unit 1 dan 2. Setiap unit terdapat lima buah coal mill dengan lima elevasi A, B, C, D, dan E. Pada masing-masing elevasi tersebut memiliki empat buah corner yang biasa dinamai dengan corner 1,2,3, dan 4. Data yang diambil berupa laju aliran massa batu bara dan udara (kglh) dari masing-masing elevasi, temperatur udara C0C), tekanan (mmWC) pada masing-masing mill, diameter pipa (m), ukuran partikel yang melewati coal pipe (mesh). Dari data tersebut dihitung menggunakan persamaan balance energy pada ke empat corner di masing-masing elevasi Dari penelitian ini didapatkan rata-rata pola aliran yang terjadi berupa dilute phase, kecepatan minimum dibawah kecepatan maksimal yaitu 21 m/s dan pressure drop yang mendekati nilai aktual,. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan PT.PJB UP Paiton sudah memenuhi syarat SOP, hanya saja untuk distribusi panas yg tidak merata disebabkan adanya pressure drop yang tidak seimbang yang diduga disebabkan oleh diameter orifice yang sudah mulai terkikis, untuk mengatasi hal tersebut dengan cara memodifikasi diameter orifice sehingga nilainya menjadi semakin kecil

There is a temperature distribution on one of the boiler walls at PT. UP PJB Paiton, which is temporarily suspected to be due to a deviation in the shift of the fireball. Judging from the observation of one coal pulverizer, one of the factors causing the imbalance is the difference in pressure (pressure drop) which is not the same, so that the speed coming out of the coal pipe is not uniform. Pneumatic conveying is an application for two-phase flow of material handling systems. This study uses air (gas) as the carrier medium and the solid phase in the form of coal powder. By varying the particle size and mass flow rate of the particles, it is expected to obtain visualization of the flow, pressure drop in each coal pipe, and flow patterns. The data for this study were taken from PT. UP PJB Paiton Unit 1 and 2. Each unit has five coal mills with five elevations A, B, C, D, and E. Each elevation has four corners which are usually named corners 1,2,3, and 4. The data taken is in the form of coal and air mass flow rate (kglh) from each elevation, air temperature C0C), pressure (mmWC) at each mill, pipe diameter (m), particle size passing through the coal pipe (mesh). From these data, it is calculated using the energy balance equation at the four corners at each elevation. From this study, the average flow pattern that occurs is in the form of a dilute phase, a minimum speed below the maximum speed of 21 m / s and a pressure drop that is close to the actual value. These results indicate that PT.PJB UP Paiton has met the SOP requirements, only for uneven heat distribution caused by an unbalanced pressure drop which is suspected to be caused by the orifice diameter which has begun to erode, to overcome this by modifying the orifice diameter so that its value becomes smaller
