Abstract

Aliran fluida merupakan salah satu fenomena yang sering dijumpai. Aliran fluida ketika melewati suatu bodi berbentuk silinder akan terjadi transisi lapis batas aliran dari laminar menjadi turbulen disebabkan perubahan kecepatan, yang dapat menimbulkan separasi aliran. Separasi yang terjadi akan menyebabkan terbentuknya daerah wake, yang dapat menimbulkan gaya drag. Salah satu upaya guna mengurangi gaya drag yaitu dengan penambahan bodi pengganggu. Penambahan bodi pengganggu diharapkan dapat mempercepat transisi aliran agar menunda titik separasi. oleh karena itu dilakukan penelitian mengenai pengaruh bodi pengganggu terhadap karakteristik aliran melewati silinder sirkular tersusun tandem. Penelitian dilakukan secara eksperimen dengan model saluran berpenampang oktagonal. Benda uji yang digunakan berupa silinder sirkular dengan diameter D = 25 mm dengan penambahan bodi pengganggu berdiameter d = 5 mm di sisi depan silinder upstream.Pengukuran dalam penelitian ini menggunakan pitot static tube, wall-pressure tap dan inclined manometer. Pengujian dilakukan dengan variasi jarak antara kedua silinder utama dengan rasio L/D = 1,5 hingga 4,0 dengan ReDh sebesar 9,7 × 104 dan 1,33 × 105 untuk mendapatkan distribusi Pressure drop (∆P), koefisien tekanan (Cp), dan koefisien drag pressure (CDP). Hasil yang diperoleh penurunan nilai pressure drop efektif terjadi pada konfigurasi silinder tandem dengan bodi pengganggu pada semua konfigurasi jarak antar silinder (L/D). Penambahan bodi pengganggu 30° efektif mempengaruhi distribusi nilai koefisien tekanan. Nilai koefisien pressure drag (CDp) silinder upstream pada seluruh konfigurasi mengalami penurunan sebesar 47 – 73%.

Fluid flow is one of the most common phenomena. When the fluid flows through a cylindrical body, there will be a transition of the flow boundary layer from laminar to turbulent due to changes in velocity, which can lead to flow separation. The separation that occurs will cause the formation of a wake area, which can cause a drag force. One of the efforts to reduce the drag force is by adding a nuisance body. The addition of the interfering body is expected to accelerate the flow transition in order to delay the separation point. Therefore, a study was conducted on the effect of the interfering body on the flow characteristics through a circular cylinder arranged in tandem. The research was conducted experimentally with an octagonal channel model. The test object used is a circular cylinder with a diameter of D = 25 mm with the addition of a disturbing body with a diameter of d = 5 mm on the front side of the upstream cylinder. Measurements in this study used a pitot static tube, wall-pressure tap and inclined manometer. The test is carried out by varying the distance between the two main cylinders with a ratio of L/D = 1.5 to 4.0 with ReDh of 9.7 × 104 and 1.33 × 105 to get the distribution of Pressure drop (∆P), pressure coefficient (Cp ), and the coefficient of drag pressure (CDP). The results obtained that the decrease in the value of the effective pressure drop occurs in the tandem cylinder configuration with the interfering body in all configurations of the distance between the cylinders (L/D). The addition of a 30° interfering body effectively affects the distribution of the pressure coefficient value. The value of the pressure drag coefficient (CDp) of the upstream cylinder in all configurations has decreased by 47 – 73%.
